A President Photo 1Biography

Homelessness never slowed Andrea President from her passionate pursuit of music. In fact, that struggle was instrumental in her musical growth, as well as her personal healing.

Though born and raised in Houston, Texas, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 where she has been immersed in gospel and contemporary Christian music. Beside inspirations from church, she also explores the eclectic mix of rhythm and blues, country, jazz, classic rock, and tribal music to craft her own unique sound.

Always a stellar student possessing endless drive, devotion, and patience, Andrea taught herself how to play the acoustic guitar and shortly began performing on stage at her church. Her first major performance was for the Stars on Staff Celebrity Waiter Luncheon in San Francisco, which was sponsored by the organization, Music In Schools Today (MuST). Shortly thereafter Andrea found herself at the doors of Youth Movement Records (YMR), a youth-run record label and youth development program. There she formalized her relationship with Recording Academy (NARAS) members, Larry Batiste and Claytoven Richardson, and recorded her first song, "Like My Father". Since then she has performed with David Pack (from Ambrosia), David Jenkins (from Pablo Cruise), Col. Hardgrove (from Public Enemy), Larry Carlton, and Jimmy Nichols (Faith Hill's Music Director).

Currently, Andrea is working on completing songs for her upcoming CD, Andrea President - A Secret Place. She is also co-director at The Digital Arts & Culinary Academy in Oakland, CA, where she facilitates program logistics and inspires youth to use music, video, agriculture, and culinary arts as a healthy outlet of expression.

Andrea President hopes her journey will serve as an example to teach others to follow their dreams, no matter how great the obstacles may be.
